A full visual field guide to the original Destiny 2 dungeon — the Erebus symbol labyrinth, Vorgeth's petitioner-orb immunity loop, and Dûl Incaru's burst window. The best first solo-flawless trainer in the game, where falls kill more often than the Taken do. Loadouts and tiered-loot notes are flagged where the sandbox shifts.

The Shattered Throne is the original dungeon and the friendliest place to learn the format. Two things make it click: it is a navigation puzzle wrapped in light combat, and the bosses are immunity-loop fights where you must do a mechanic before any damage lands. Treat old "weekly rotation" and exclusive-loot advice as suspect under the current reward model.
Getting in & what wipes groups
Every dungeon is available based on expansion / Dungeon-Key ownership, with all Keys bundled into Destiny 2: The Collection. Reach the dungeon from the Director in the Dreaming City.
What ends runs here is almost never combat. It is falls off catwalks, Ogres knocking you into the void, and letting a 45-second buff timer expire mid-mechanic. Patience beats damage.
What old guides get wrong
Legacy write-ups still claim the Shattered Throne is on a three-week curse rotation and gate the loot behind it. That framing is stale.
Vorgeth needs four Keeper-of-Petitions Wizards per cycle, not three.
The Wish-Ender quest was streamlined years ago; the old multi-week version no longer applies.
The Fiction
Why you're here
The maze and its buffs below aren't arbitrary — this is a queen's corrupted throne world, and every loop you run cuts down the daughter who seized it. Here's the story the dungeon is telling while you solve it.
The corrupted throne at the curse's heart
Deep in the Dreaming City's curse lies the Shattered Throne — Mara Sov's throne world, corrupted and seized by the Taken and now ruled by Dûl Incaru, Savathûn's daughter, whose deaths and returns drive the City's three-week Taken cycle. You enter the Ascendant Plane to end her latest incarnation and slow the curse.
The Throne reads intent: you earn paracausal buffs and deliver them to strip wards, because the maze opens only to ascendant will, not force. Each loop she comes back; each loop you have to cut her down again.
Navigate by the labyrinth's occult logic, sever the Knights that hold her invulnerability, and end this turn of the Eternal Return.
Core Mechanic
Symbols & the petition loop
Three repeating ideas carry the whole dungeon: read a symbol to know where to go, kill the right enemies to earn a timed buff, and dunk that buff to strip a boss's immunity. Master these three and every room becomes routine.
Erebus labyrinth
Read the Symbol
› Match & travel
A glowing Ouroborea-style sigil (snake, fish, dragon, crow…) shows which temple to clear next. Find the matching etched symbol in the maze and go there.
Vorgeth & Dûl Incaru
Earn the Buff
› Kill, then carry (45s)
Slay the marked enemies (Keeper Wizards / champion Knights) to gain a stacking, timed buff. Each stack ticks on a ~45-second clock — let it lapse and you start over.
Boss immunity
Dunk to Strip
› Deposit at the center
Take the full buff to the central pedestal / plates and dunk it. That drops the boss's shield and opens a short damage window — burst, then reset.
Why this matters for solo flawless: nothing here demands twitch aim — it demands clock management. Don't kill the last buff-giver until you can immediately reach the dunk, and never start a damage phase you can't finish before adds reset you. The symbols, buffs, and ~45-second timers are stable and evergreen — once you internalize the rhythm, every room is routine. (See the route map and the encounter breakdown.)
Mechanic Checkpoints
What moves the encounter
Brief this before each pull: the progress trigger is what advances the room; the fail/wipe trigger is what must be routed, cleansed, or called immediately.
The Symbol Labyrinth
Progress: read the central sigil, go to the matching temple, kill its Architect, and repeat the sigil chain until the Diving Falcon route opens.
Fail/wipe: wrong temples waste the route, and falls during the labyrinth are the true reset button. The symbols advance only when the correct Architect dies.
The Catwalks & Thrall
Progress: cross the Ogre catwalks, then move through the Shadow Thrall hall to the next arena.
Fail/wipe: Ogre knockback and narrow ledges kill more runs than combat. In the thrall hall, stopping to fight the infinite wave usually gets players surrounded.
Vorgeth
Progress: kill all four Keeper Wizards, collect Petitioner's Marks into Petitioner's Burden, dunk at center to remove Vorgeth's shield, then damage.
Fail/wipe: the mark timer expiring kills the carrier, and partial Wizard clears do not count. Hidden Shade pressure and boss projectiles punish slow rotations.
Dul Incaru
Progress: kill the three Abyssal Champion Knights, pick up Finite Thoughts, burst Dul Incaru, then cleanse/bank before the buff expires.
Fail/wipe: Finite Thoughts expiring kills the holder, and Psions multiply if ignored. Failing to break the shield crystal or bank cleanly forces another short phase.
Field Maps
The throne at a glance
The Shattered Throne is a vertical run through the Ascendant Plane: a sprawling symbol maze, a fall-heavy descent, two immunity-loop bosses, and the hidden Wish-Ender path between them. Here is the whole route; each encounter below carries its own detailed map.

The Run
Three encounters, top to bottom
Between the named encounters you traverse the Ascendant Plane — catwalks, gravity lifts, and a Shadow Thrall corridor. The main threat throughout is the drop, not the Taken. Move deliberately and the combat is gentle.
1
Encounter · Erebus
The Symbol Labyrinth
"Navigate the maze of Erebus by the sigils it reveals."
Lore lens · why it works
The Ascendant Plane rearranges space around belief, so the maze of Erebus has no fixed map to memorize. Reading the sigils it reveals and answering them is you navigating by the Throne's occult logic — letting the labyrinth show you the way it wants to be walked.
The loop
From the central platform, look for the large glowing Ouroborea sigil on a structure — it names the temple to visit.
Travel to the matching etched symbol (animals: fish, snake, dragon, crow, two-headed snake, diving bird) and clear the Labyrinth Architects inside.
A new sigil reveals. Repeat — the order is randomized each run, so read, don't memorize a path.
The cycle runs seven times. The final symbol is always the Diving Falcon, sending you back to the center.
Kill the final Taken Captain Architect at the center, then drop into the pit to descend.
SpeedGive the symbols team nicknames and call them on sight. A long-range Primary clears each temple from the doorway so you keep momentum between sigils.
PatienceWrong temple just wastes time — there's no penalty for misreading. Confirm the sigil before you commit to a long jump across the void.
FallsErebus is open over the abyss. Missed jumps are the #1 killer here — land flat, and don't sprint-jump blind toward a temple you haven't confirmed.

The Catwalks & Thrall
"Cross the broken bridges of the Ascendant Plane."
Lore lens · why it works
The curse spawns endless Taken Thrall over the abyss — a tide that never truly runs out. The Catwalks are a test of composure, not a kill count: the Ascendant Plane is measuring whether you can keep moving and keep your footing while the curse throws its dead at you.
The loop
After the pit, fight down through Taken on the catwalks. Take out Asterion, Set Apart and the Hobgoblins clustered on the platforms.
Beware Taken Ogres on the narrow walks — their slam and eye blast can knock you off the edge to an instant death.
Push through the Shadow Thrall corridor: jumping/gliding is disabled and Thrall spawn endlessly — keep moving forward, don't try to clear them.
Use the gravity lifts to ascend the spire toward Vorgeth's arena.
EdgesOgres knock you off. Fight them from a wall at your back, never with the void behind you. The drops here end far more runs than any enemy's health bar.
Thrall hallIn the restricted corridor your jump is locked and Thrall are infinite. It's a sprint, not a fight — tank a little chip damage and reach the door.
SoloSolo runners should bait Ogres backward off the path and slip past. A movement exotic or a healing subclass turns the whole traversal into a formality.

Boss · The Boundless Hunger
Vorgeth, the Boundless Hunger
"Feed the petition to break his hunger."
Lore lens · why it works
Vorgeth, the Boundless Hunger is a Taken Ogre kept invulnerable by Knights feeding him buffs. Killing those Knights and claiming their Petitioner's Marks is you cutting his sustenance loop — starving the hunger that shields him until his boundless appetite finally leaves him exposed.
The loop
Vorgeth (a Taken Ogre on his pillar) is fully immune. Around the room sit four Keeper of Petitions Wizards, one per side.
Kill a Keeper to gain a stack of Petitioner's Mark — a buff on a ~45-second timer. Move to the next Keeper before it expires.
Collect all four. The final stack converts to Petitioner's Burden — carry it to the central pillars and dunk.
Dunking strips Vorgeth's immunity and opens a damage window. Dump DPS until the shield returns.
Repeat the four-Wizard cycle until he dies. Then visit the Sjur Eido statue to begin or advance the Wish-Ender quest.
TimerThe mark is the whole fight. Plan a route between the four Keepers so the last kill lands right before you reach the dunk — a lapsed buff means restarting the cycle.
PressureAdds and Vorgeth's projectiles harass you while you collect. Keep moving the perimeter; a hidden Fleeting Shade Minotaur can spawn a tougher add, so don't tunnel on the buff.
SideAfter the kill, the Sjur Eido statue is the Wish-Ender hand-in point — see the bow quest below.
Dûl Incaru, the Eternal Return is held invulnerable by Knights who carry her ward, and she resurrects with the curse itself. Stripping the Knights and killing her inside the window is you severing Savathûn's hold for one more cycle — not a permanent death, but a turn of the three-week loop bought back from the City's captor.
The loop
Ascend to the throne room. Dûl Incaru is immune; clear the spawning Taken Psions first so they don't swarm you.
Kill her three Abyssal Champion Knights. Each drops an orb granting a stack of Finite Thoughts (~45s timer).
Cleanse / bank the stacks at the purple pedestal mid-arena before the timer runs out, or the cycle fails.
With the buff active, burst Dûl Incaru. Partway through she spawns a crystal that re-shields her.
Destroy the crystal to resume damage. Repeat the Knight → cleanse → burst cycle until she falls.
BurstThe damage window is short. Front-load your heaviest DPS the instant the buff lands — Supers and Heavy first, before the crystal interrupts you.
PsionsUnattended Psions multiply and overwhelm, especially solo. Thin them between cycles so you're not fighting a crowd during the damage phase.
SoloSolo, kill the three Knights, cleanse, then commit fully — a one-phase is realistic with Celestial Nighthawk Golden Gun or a stacked Heavy + Well. The final chest sits in the throne room.
LootThe Wish-Ender catalyst drops here from Dûl Incaru at a low random chance — checkpoint-farmable any week, not just when the dungeon is featured.
Stale advice to ignore: old write-ups still describe a three-week curse rotation gating entry and loot, a three-Wizard Vorgeth cycle, and a multi-week Wish-Ender grind — all superseded. The mechanics above (read sigils, four Keepers, cleanse-and-burst) are stable and evergreen.
Loadouts
Meta loadouts
This is the gentlest dungeon in the game — anything in your vault clears it. These are simply the efficient picks: burst DPS for the two short boss windows, reliable add-clear for Erebus and the Psion waves, and survivability for the catwalks. Build around one burst option + one add-clear + a survivable subclass.
Boss DPS
Vorgeth & Dûl Incaru windows
Still Hunt Exotic
With Hunter's Celestial Nighthawk, the Golden Gun shot can one-phase Dûl Incaru.
Cold Comfort / Cataclysmic
Bait-and-switch rocket & Linear Fusion — strong, accessible legendary burst for short windows.
Whisper of the Worm Exotic
Heavy precision sniper — clean stationary damage when you can't risk a rocket near the void.
Gjallarhorn Exotic
Buffs the whole fireteam's rockets — bring it if anyone else runs Heavy launchers.
Add Clear
Erebus, Psions, ambient Taken
Graviton Lance / Sunshot Exotic
Chain-explosion primaries that delete Psion and Thrall packs across a room.
Riskrunner / Osteo Striga Exotic
Chain lightning and poison — effortless room clear and excellent solo.
Witherhoard Exotic
Tag-and-go area denial; chip damage you can leave on a boss while you do mechanics.
Wish-Ender Exotic
The dungeon's own chase bow — wall-hacks help you spot Keepers and the next sigil.
Survivability
Catwalks & solo flawless
Movement exotics
Anything that softens the platforming (extra dodge, glide, lift) keeps flawless runs alive.
Healing / restoration tools
Restoration, woven mail, or devour neutralize the Thrall corridor and Psion swarms.
Tractor Cannon Exotic
Optional debuff on a boss for a team-wide damage boost just before a burst window.
Warlock
Well of Radiance / Prismatic
Drop a Well in a boss window for survivability and a damage buff. Prismatic with devour keeps you topped up through the catwalks.
Titan
Prismatic / Thundercrash
Thundercrash is huge burst on either boss; Prismatic offers healing and barricade safety for the traversal.
Hunter
Prismatic + Golden Gun
Golden Gun with Celestial Nighthawk is the classic Dûl Incaru nuke; invisibility aspects make solo Erebus trivial.
Loadout note: for a dungeon this forgiving the gap between "meta" and "what you own" barely matters. The two boss windows are short, so favor burst over sustain — otherwise bring whatever you're comfortable with and the run clears.
Side Content
The Wish-Ender bow quest
The exotic kinetic bow Wish-Ender is the dungeon's signature chase, earned through a separate Dreaming City quest line ("Hunter's Remembrance") rather than as a random drop. Its perk lets you see enemies through walls at full draw and pierce barriers — a long-running PvE staple.
1
Pick up the quest
Acquire the Hunter's Remembrance / Wish-Ender quest from the Quest Archive (or Petra Venj in the Dreaming City). It points you back into the Shattered Throne to find Sjur Eido's statue.
2
Take three Dreaming Tokens
Past Vorgeth, reach the Sjur Eido statue and take its three Dreaming Tokens (Querim, Eriviks, Xavoth). Each must be charged into a Waking Token by depositing a relic at the statue and defeating that token's boss.
3
Charge and return the tokens
Deposit the relic with no ball to spawn Theratos, then kill Querim; charge Eriviks (a Taken Captain); and charge Xavoth (a Taken Ogre summoned in the first-boss room after you kill a Taken Minotaur). Return all three Waking Tokens to the Sjur Eido statue to claim the bow.
4
Catalyst & barrier value
Wish-Ender's catalyst and barrier-piercing make it strong in endgame; the wall-hack draw is genuinely useful for spotting Keepers and sigils on subsequent runs. The catalyst drops from Dûl Incaru (this dungeon's final boss) at a low random chance — checkpoint-farmable any week, not just the featured week.
Catalyst: the Wish-Ender catalyst drops from Dûl Incaru at a low random chance and is checkpoint-farmable any week — you do not need the featured week to grind it.
Rewards
What you're farming for
The chase
The headline reward is the Wish-Ender exotic bow via its own quest (above) — not a chest drop. Beyond it, the Shattered Throne shares a single Dreaming City weapon loot pool across the encounters rather than per-boss tables, so any clear can roll any of the dungeon weapons.
Refreshed Dreaming City weapons in the pool include Sleepless (rocket), Retold Tale (shotgun), Vouchsafe (scout), Tigerspite (auto), Waking Vigil (hand cannon), and Twilight Oath (sniper), plus Reverie Dawn armor. The exact roster and god rolls shift with the reissue cadence.
Featured rewards
Two dungeons are featured each week. Featured: Standard and Master drop Tier 5 weapons and armor; the Director challenge and hidden chests drop Tier 5 on a weekly lockout. Not featured: Standard drops Tier 3 weapons and armor; Master still drops Tier 5.
All dungeons are accessible based on expansion / Dungeon-Key ownership, with all Keys now in Destiny 2: The Collection.
