Prismatic

Light and Dark on one subclass. Prismatic lets you weave Solar, Arc, and Void together with Stasis and Strand — combining aspects, grenades, and supers that were never meant to coexist. Master its unique mechanic, Transcendence, and it becomes the most flexible kit in the game. Here's how it works across all three classes.

What Prismatic actually is

It's not a new element — it's a blender. Instead of locking you to one damage type, Prismatic lets you slot a curated mix of abilities and aspects from across all five subclasses at once, so Light and Dark keywords combine for synergies the game otherwise keeps apart.

Mix Light & Dark

Pair a Void aspect with a Stasis one, throw a Strand grenade, punch with a Solar melee. Landing a Volatile explosion (Void) on a Jolted (Arc) enemy who's also Slowed (Stasis)? That cross-element chaos is the entire point.

Three new Supers

Prismatic introduced one brand-new Super per class: Song of Flame (Warlock), Twilight Arsenal (Titan), and Storm's Edge (Hunter) — alongside access to existing supers from across the kit.

How to unlock it

Granted during the Final Shape campaign (the Prismatic Conflux in the Pale Heart). Aspects, grenades, and melees come from campaign chests and the "Lost in the Light" / "Found in the Dark" quests. Fragments are account-bound — unlock once, use on all three characters.

01 · The Mechanic

Transcendence

Prismatic's signature — effectively a second, weaker Super you build up through normal combat. Two meters sit under your Super bar; fill both to Transcend.

Light gauge — fills from Arc · Solar · Void damage100%
Both full → Transcend
Dark gauge — fills from Stasis · Strand damage100%

Activating Transcendence grants a unique Light-and-Dark grenade, plus increased weapon damage, damage resistance, and faster ability regeneration for the duration.

Fill both sides

Light abilities fill the Light gauge; Dark abilities fill the Dark. Kinetic weapons fill both at once.

Cross-fill bonus

Once one side is full, kinetic weapons fill the other side faster — so you're never stuck topping off one gauge.

~30 seconds

Transcendence decays but extends on kills (diminishing returns). When it ends, both gauges empty and you rebuild.

Build implication: the best Prismatic builds deliberately deal both Light and Dark damage so both meters fill evenly. A build that only uses, say, Void and Arc will fill the Light gauge fast but stall on Dark — pick at least one reliable Dark source (a Stasis turret, a Strand grenade, a Slow melee).
02 · The Trade-off

Why it isn't just "best of everything"

A curated subset

Prismatic only gives you one Super, one core ability, and a limited set of Aspects from each element — not the whole tree. For example, Prismatic Warlock's Solar Super is Song of Flame, not Well of Radiance or Daybreak.

That's the balancing lever: you get incredible mixing freedom, but not your single subclass's most broken specific tool.

Aspects, unleashed

To enable synergy, most Aspects had their element restrictions removed on Prismatic:

  • Bleak Watcher turrets can be made with any grenade.
  • Stylish Executioner triggers off any debuff, not just Void.
  • Feed the Void (Devour) pairs with non-Void supers.

This is where the creativity lives — combinations a normal subclass could never run.

03 · Fragments

Facets — the synergy glue

Prismatic fragments are called Facets. They knit your Light and Dark abilities together and several grant stat bonuses (now converted to the Armor 3.0 stats). The most build-defining ones:

Facet of Balance
Rapid Light-damage kills grant melee energy; rapid Dark-damage kills grant grenade energy. Keeps both abilities flowing.
Facet of Bravery
Grenade kills grant Volatile Rounds (Void); melee kills grant Unraveling Rounds (Strand). Free weapon buffs.
Facet of Courage
Light abilities deal more damage to targets with Darkness debuffs (slow, freeze, suspend, unravel, sever).
Facet of Command
Killing frozen or suppressed targets makes a Stasis Shard or Void Breach; suppression/freeze boosts airborne handling.
Facet of Hope
While you have an elemental buff (Amplified, Woven Mail, Restoration…), your class ability recharges 40% faster — 60% with two or more eligible buffs active.
Facet of Blessing
Melee kills heal you — and heal nearby allies while you're Transcendent. Strong solo sustain.
Facet of Protection
While surrounded, you take less incoming damage; the protection is stronger while Transcendent.
Facet of Sacrifice
While you have a Light buff, ability final blows grant bonus Dark Transcendence energy, so you Transcend more often. Plus a stat bonus.
Facet of Awakening
Rapid elemental final blows and Super kills create matching elemental pickups. Fuels keyword loops; grants a stat bonus.
04 · Exotic Class Items

The reality-bending class items

Prismatic's headline gear. Each class has one, and it rolls two random "Spirit of…" perks — reworked versions of existing exotics, even ones from other classes. They only work on Prismatic, and they're earned from the two-player Dual Destiny exotic mission (then farmable from Pale Heart chests). They also take your one Exotic armor slot, so a class-item build cannot pair with another Exotic armor piece.

Standout Spirits: Inmost Light, Filaments (Empowering Rift → Devour), Ophidian, Apotheosis, Necrotic, Star-Eater.

Titan
Stoicism

Standout Spirits: Synthoceps, Inmost Light, Severance (melee/finisher explosion), Hoarfrost, Abeyant, Assassin.

Hunter
Relativism
Exotic cloak

Standout Spirits: Assassin (invis), Synthoceps, Star-Eater, Inmost Light, Ophidian, Cyrtarachne (Woven Mail).

How the roll works: the left-column perk sets the archetype on the item (and thus its stat spread), while the right-column perk determines the tertiary stat — so a god-roll combo also has predictable stats. Each column has 8 options. The Spirit perks are weaker than the full exotics they're based on (e.g., Spirit of Osmiomancy works with any grenade but loses the second charge), but combining two strong Spirits on the class item is what makes Prismatic builds sing.
05 · Per-Class Builds

The best Prismatic build for each class

One proven endgame setup per class. Each is built to fill both Transcendence meters and keep abilities looping — now that stat-based cooldowns cap at 125%.

Why it works: An Arc Soul buddy + a Stasis Bleak Watcher turret means you're passively dealing both Light and Dark damage — so Transcendence fills almost on its own — while Devour keeps you alive. The all-round endgame Warlock answer.

Why it works: Inmost Light + Facet of Balance keep abilities cycling fast enough that the cooldown cap barely bites, while Consecration slams chunk rooms (and stun Unstoppables). Add a Stasis melee or grenade to feed the Dark gauge. Tanky, high-uptime, endgame-ready.

Why it works: Combination Blow heals and ramps melee damage; Winter's Shroud Slows on dodge (filling the Dark gauge and enabling Facet of Courage's bonus damage), while the Assassin perk grants invisibility on melee finals. Punch, slow, vanish, Transcend — extremely flexible.
06 · Wiring It Up

Prismatic buildcraft notes

Feed both meters

The single most common Prismatic mistake is running a kit that only deals Light (or only Dark) damage, which starves one Transcendence gauge.

Bake in at least one reliable source of each — a turret, a debuff melee, or a matching grenade — and keep a Kinetic weapon handy since it fills both sides.

Cooldown cap and boss Super energy

  • Stat-based cooldowns capped at 125%, so favor kill-driven loops (Inmost Light, Devour, Combination Blow) over single-stat stacking.
  • Boss-damage Super energy is -60% — Transcendence and weapons matter more in DPS phases.
  • Facet of Sacrifice helps you Transcend more often to offset the slower ability economy.
Where to start: if Prismatic feels overwhelming, copy one of the three builds above wholesale, then swap a single Facet or Aspect at a time to learn what each does. Import full fragment + mod lists from DIM, and farm Dual Destiny (or Pale Heart chests) for a class item with two Spirits that match your loop.
