A Lucent Hive strike deep in the swamp of Savathûn's Throne World, re-taught in modern Grandmaster Vanguard Alert language. Push through the temple and monument to Oryx, manage champion frame coverage instead of old Artifact mods, and finish Alak-Hul, the Lightblade — a resurrected Lightbearer Knight who goes immune until you kill his Lightbearer waves and crush their Ghosts.

What this run really is

The Lightblade is a Lucent Hive strike whose whole identity is the boss: Alak-Hul goes immune at health thresholds, spawns a wave of Lucent Hive Lightbearers, and you only resume damage once you kill them AND crush their Ghosts. The danger isn't a DPS race — it's surviving those add waves and his rushdown while you do the Ghost chore.

The one-sentence identity

Fight through the Throne World temple, boat traversal, and the Weight-of-Darkness swamp, clear the champions the week's modifiers assign, then break Alak-Hul's immunity by killing his Lightbearer waves and crushing their Ghosts between damage windows.

Everything you bring serves three jobs: survive the approach, cover the champion types present, and burst Alak-Hul in his open windows while you handle the Lightbearer-and-Ghost loop. Build for those, not for the trash.

What old guides get wrong

  • They invent a relic / cleanse / Light-suppression mechanic. There isn't one — the real signature is immunity → kill Lightbearers → crush their Ghosts to strip the shield.
  • They tell you to slot a seasonal anti-Champion Artifact mod. Stun is frame-intrinsic now — bring the right archetypes (weapon guide).
  • They quote a fixed champion list. GM champion types and counts follow the weekly modifier set.
  • They name a specific Adept reward. The chase is the weekly Tier 5 weapon, and it changes every reset.
01 · Champion Coverage

Cover the frames, not the mods

Anti-Champion is built into weapon frames now — there's no Artifact mod to forget. Bring archetypes that cover the types the week assigns. Champion types follow the weekly modifier set.

Per weekly modifier set

Barrier

› Pierce / break the shield
Lucent Hive Barrier Knights wear the tag and tend to anchor the boss room. Bring a Barrier-intrinsic frame to strip the shield, then finish. Don't dump a Super into an unbroken shield.
Some weeks

Overload

› Disrupt to stop the heal
Overload combatants regenerate and teleport. An Overload frame interrupts them so they stop healing — focus them first or they reset the room. Treat as a rotation possibility, not a fixture here.
Per weekly modifier set

Unstoppable

› Stagger before it charges
An Unstoppable enemy is in the cave / swamp stretch. An Unstoppable frame staggers it at range — stun, then delete before it closes the gap.
The modifier readout, every time: (1) enemy pressure — which champions, shields, and faction units; (2) weekly modifiers — surge, threat, banes, player stakes; (3) the single modifier most likely to wipe a casual team; (4) one build swap that answers it. Run that readout on the launch screen before every GM Alert. Champion types follow the weekly modifier set. The hub's modifier glossary explains Medusa, Focused Fire, and the rest.
02 · The Route

Throne World temple to the swamp arena

Four beats: the Queen's Bailey opening, the canal boat traversal, the Weight-of-Darkness swamp, and the Temple of the Navigator boss arena. The skill is patience through the moths and the swamp debuff, then a clean immunity loop on Alak-Hul. Here's the route at a glance; each beat below carries its own notes.

Full routeThrone World temple → swamp arena
The Lightblade full route A top-to-bottom route through four areas following the gold path: 1 Queen's Bailey opening courtyard with the first champions and Lightbearers, 2 the canal and moving boat traversal with explosive moths, 3 The Swamp under the Weight of Darkness debuff that slows movement and abilities with a cave stretch and an Unstoppable enemy, 4 the Temple of the Navigator, Alak-Hul the Lightblade's circular two-level arena. 1
Beat · Queen's Bailey opening

The Throne World Opening

"Land, then fight up to the monument to Oryx."
The loop
  1. Land in Savathûn's Throne World and push through the opening Lucent Hive courtyard toward the temple and the monument to Oryx.
  2. Expect the first champions and Lightbearers here — clear them with the matching frame coverage before advancing.
  3. Thin the Thrall and Acolytes early; the Lucent Brood snowballs into chip damage if you let the swarm build.
PaceForgiving on Normal, lethal on GM only if you sprint blind. Move as a group, cover-to-cover; a hero rush here burns a revive token you'll want at Alak-Hul.
ThreatSlot the weekly threat element resist before the first real fight — Lucent Hive chip damage adds up fastest in the open courtyard.
2
Beat · Canal / ferry boat

The Temple & Boat

"Tight interior, a moving barge, and moths that explode on you."
The loop
  1. Push through the temple interior and onto a moving boat / barge section, advancing toward the swamp.
  2. Watch for explosive moths — they home in and detonate on contact. Shoot them at range; never let one reach you in a tight room.
  3. Fight the Lucent Hive off the boat as it moves; don't fall behind the platform or you'll be cut off and overwhelmed.
MothsAn explosive moth that lands on you in the close temple or on the boat is a near-instant death in GM. Prioritise them over everything — pop them before they close.
FootingThe boat moves. Stay on the platform, keep cover at your back, and don't strafe off the edge while dodging a moth or a Knight.
3
Beat · The Swamp (Weight of Darkness)

The Swamp

"Slowed, grounded, and swarmed — patience over speed."
The loop
  1. Cross the swamp under the Weight of Darkness debuff — it stacks the longer you're exposed, slowing movement and limiting jumps and abilities.
  2. Push cover-to-cover through high enemy density; don't sprint into the open while the debuff is high, you can't reposition out of trouble.
  3. Clear the cave stretch — on higher difficulty this is where the Unstoppable enemy sits. Stagger it before it corners you.
WeightWeight of Darkness caps your jump and slows you as it stacks. Move between bits of cover, let stacks fall off, and never cross open swamp with full stacks and no escape route.
ChampionThe cave Unstoppable is the choke. Call it out, stagger with the right frame, and collapse on it together before it rushes the slowed team.
AmmoThis is the last stretch before the boss. Top up Special and Heavy, agree who grabs bricks, and don't dump Heavy on swamp trash.
4
Boss · Alak-Hul, the Lightblade

Alak-Hul, on the immunity loop

"His health bar waits until you do the Ghost chore."
The loop
  1. Alak-Hul drops into the Temple of the Navigator, a circular two-level arena. Damage him until he reaches an immunity threshold at roughly two-thirds and one-third health.
  2. At each threshold he goes immune and a wave of Lucent Hive Lightbearers spawns. Kill the Lightbearers, then crush their Ghosts — both steps are required to strip his immunity.
  3. Once every Ghost is crushed, immunity drops and the damage window reopens. Burst him down to the next threshold.
  4. After the first phase he grows more aggressive — losing his helm and chasing faster around 50%, chaining axe slams and one-shot Arc projectiles.
  5. Repeat the damage-then-Ghost loop until he falls. Don't over-damage into a threshold and stack two waves at once. Bank a revive token for the final phase.
GhostsKilling the Lightbearers is not enough — a Lightbearer whose Ghost survives will self-resurrect. Crush every Ghost or his immunity never drops and the wave never ends.
RushdownHis axe slam rushdown and one-shot Arc projectiles punish a cornered player — especially post-50% when he enrages. Keep an exit lane and never let him pin you against a wall.
BurstDamage windows are short, so burst beats sustained DPS. Open with your big window the moment immunity drops, then reset for the next Ghost wave.
Map · Alak-Hul's ArenaBoss · Circular two-level arena
Alak-Hul the Lightblade arena map The Temple of the Navigator, a circular two-level arena. Alak-Hul fights from the centre and becomes immune at health thresholds, roughly at two-thirds and one-third health. At each threshold a wave of Lucent Hive Lightbearers spawns around the rim; players must kill those Lightbearers and crush their Ghosts to strip the immunity and resume damage. Barrier Knights also guard the room. After the first phase Alak-Hul enrages around fifty percent health, losing his helm and chasing faster while chaining axe slams and one-shot Arc projectiles. Bring four jobs, not four guns

A GM team is happiest when each player owns a job. Full build cards live in the class guides and the Prismatic deep dive — these are the jobs to fill and the archetypes that fill them. Names rotate with the meta; the jobs don't.

Anchor / Control

Room control + self-sustain

Hold space and keep the team topped through Lightbearer waves.

  • Warlock — Void Devour or the Prismatic Getaway loop.
  • Titan — Strand Banner of War for team woven mail.
  • A reliable add-clear Primary that respects the surge.

Champion Lock

Frame coverage

Carry the intrinsic stuns the week assigns.

  • Barrier + Unstoppable frames as the baseline here.
  • Add an Overload frame on weeks it appears.
  • See the weapon guide for which archetypes carry each stun.

Boss Burst

Damage in the open windows

Burst windows are short — open big the moment immunity drops.

  • Hunter — Nighthawk Golden Gun for a clean single-shot nuke.
  • Titan — Thundercrash as a burst swap.
  • A heavy you can fire-and-reposition (rocket / LFR).

Emergency Support

Safe revive / reset

The insurance that saves a token.

  • Hunter — Void invis (Gyrfalcon / Omnioculus) for safe rezzes.
  • A healing or overshield tool for the boss room.
  • A debuff (Tractor / Div) to speed the Alak-Hul windows.
Loadout note: these are the mid-2026 (Monument-era) jobs and archetypes — match the weekly surge when you pick your elements. For full, current builds, the class pages go deeper than any single route guide.
04 · Modifier Adjustment

What changes when the modifiers do

The route is evergreen, but the week's modifiers decide how you play it. The most common GM swings and the one adjustment each one asks for:

Medusa

Looking at affected enemies stacks Stasis slow toward a freeze. Brutal stacked on the swamp's Weight of Darkness — shorten sightlines, peek-and-cover, and never hard-scope a Lightbearer you can't disengage from.

No Radar / Blackout

You lose your spawn warnings and melees hit harder. Clear corners before committing in the temple and cave, hold cover in the arena, and call Lightbearer and Ghost positions by voice.

Focused Fire

Heightened incoming damage. Tighten cover discipline everywhere and shorten your exposure windows — peek, fire, drop back. Alak-Hul's one-shot Arc projectiles are twice as punishing under it.

Harsh threat / surge

Slot the matching resist mod for the threat element and match your DPS element to the surge on Alak-Hul. A mismatched surge can add an extra Ghost-wave phase to the fight.

Champion types follow the weekly modifier set: the exact champions, banes, surge, threat, and player stakes come from the week's GM Alert modifier list, shown on the launch screen.
05 · Common Wipes

Why teams actually lose this

Almost none of it is Alak-Hul's health bar. The Lightblade wipes groups in four predictable ways — kill these habits and the run is yours.

1

Eating a Lightbearer's Light

A Lucent Knight shield throw or a Lightbearer super during the immunity waves one-shots a careless player. Stay in cover, prioritise the casters, and crush the Ghost before it resurrects.

2

Getting cornered by Alak-Hul

His axe slam rushdown and one-shot Arc projectiles kill the moment you're pinned — worse post-50% when he enrages. Keep an escape lane and never back into a wall.

3

Letting a moth land

Explosive moths in the temple, on the boat, and in the swamp detonate on contact. Shoot them at range — one that reaches you in a tight room is a free death in GM.

4

Fighting the swamp wrong

Weight of Darkness slows you and limits abilities, letting enemies overwhelm a stuck team. And over-damaging the boss into a threshold stacks two Ghost waves at once — pace your DPS, don't blow past the immunity line.

Weekly reward: when the Lightblade is the active Grandmaster Alert, a Grade B or better clear awards the week's featured weapon at Tier 5 (first clear pre-masterworked with its origin trait). The weapon changes weekly — this route is evergreen, the reward is not. See the hub reward ladder.
