Grandmaster Vanguard Alert · Taken · The Dreaming City
TheCorrupted
A Dreaming City Taken strike, re-taught in modern Grandmaster Vanguard Alert language. Descend from Rheasilvia through the Temple of Illyn into the Ascendant Plane, manage champion frame coverage instead of old Artifact mods, and finish Sedia, the Corrupted on a suspended platform where you must break her shield with thrown Awoken relics before any damage lands. The danger isn't her health bar — it's the fall.

What this run really is
The Corrupted is a vertical Taken strike — in a Grandmaster Alert its danger isn't enemy density alone, it's the platforming over open drops and a boss who is flat-out immune until you break her shield with a relic. Treat the descent as a careful push and the boss room as a relic-relay puzzle on a ledge you can be knocked off, not a DPS race.
The one-sentence identity
Descend the Temple of Illyn through Taken (with supporting Scorn and Hive) into the Ascendant Plane, clear the champions the week's modifiers assign, then break Sedia's relic shield and burst her on a suspended platform amid debris hazards and add waves.
Everything you bring serves three jobs: survive the descent and the jumps, cover the champion types present, and land burst on Sedia in the window the relic opens. Build for those, not for the trash.
What old guides get wrong
They tell you to slot a seasonal anti-Champion Artifact mod. Stun is frame-intrinsic now — bring the right archetypes (weapon guide).
They quote a fixed champion list. GM champion types and counts follow the weekly modifier set.
They name a specific Adept reward. The chase is the weekly Tier 5 weapon, and it changes every reset.
They call the boss step "steal essence and dunk it." It's a relic-throw: grab an Awoken relic, optionally pass it to a teammate to empower it, then throw it at Sedia to strip her shield. Don't repeat the old wrong mechanic.
01 · Champion Coverage
Cover the frames, not the mods
Anti-Champion is built into weapon frames now — there's no Artifact mod to forget. Bring archetypes that cover the types the week assigns. Champion types follow the weekly modifier set.
Not typical here
Barrier
› Pierce / break the shield
If the weekly set lists Barrier, bring a Barrier-intrinsic frame and don't dump a Super into an unbroken shield.
Per weekly modifier set
Overload
› Disrupt to stop the heal
Overload Taken combatants regenerate and teleport — and Taken units already blink and phase. An Overload frame interrupts them so they stop healing; focus them first or they reset a room mid-platforming.
Per weekly modifier set
Unstoppable
› Stagger before it charges
Unstoppable Taken Ogres and Phalanxes have appeared here — the Ogre in the normal plane, Phalanxes in the Ascendant Realm. An Unstoppable frame staggers them at range; stun before a Phalanx void-knocks you off a platform.
The modifier readout, every time: (1) enemy pressure — which champions, shields, and faction units; (2) weekly modifiers — surge, threat, banes, player stakes; (3) the single modifier most likely to wipe a casual team; (4) one build swap that answers it. The hub's modifier glossary explains Medusa, Focused Fire, and the rest.
02 · The Route
Rheasilvia, down into the Plane
Five beats: the Rheasilvia opening, the Temple of Illyn descent, the twin-Ogre Ascendant teleport, the Ascendant Plane platforming gauntlet, and Sedia's arena. The strike runs vertical and crosses realms — the skill is when to push, when to hold, and when not to jump blind. Here's the route at a glance; each beat below carries its own notes.

Route · descent lineChampion spawnRelic / bossLethal drop
1
Beat · Opening (Rheasilvia)
The Rheasilvia Opening
"Clear the surface, find the dark portal."
The loop
Spawn into the Dreaming City and push through Scorn and Taken toward the dark portal that leads into the Temple of Illyn.
Hold a piece of hard cover and let the team stack before crossing the open Rheasilvia ground.
Thin the cheap adds — Taken Thrall and Scorn fodder snowball into chip damage if you sprint past them.
PaceForgiving on Normal, lethal on GM only if you rush blind. Move as a group, cover-to-cover; a hero push here burns a revive token you'll want at Sedia.
ThreatMatch the weekly threat element with a resist mod before the first real fight — Taken Captain darkness blasts and Scorn fire add up fast in the open.
2
Beat · Temple of Illyn descent
The Temple Descent
"Down through the temple — relics break what bullets can't."
The loop
Descend through the temple, clearing Taken and using your Ghost to open gated progress as you drop deeper.
Some Taken are shielded / impenetrable — pick up an Awoken relic and use it to break them before they overwhelm a landing.
Take the platforming sections one jump at a time; don't get baited into a leap while a champion is still up behind you.
ChampionExpect Overload pressure through the descent. Call the type, disrupt with the right frame, and don't let a teleporting Overload reset a cleared room.
RelicsThe relic mechanic starts here, not at the boss. Get comfortable grabbing and using a relic on shielded Taken now — the boss room demands the same muscle memory.
GhostIf progress stalls, someone needs to scan or interact with the Ghost at the gate. Don't burn time fighting a door that needs a button.
3
Beat · Twin Ogres / Ascendant teleport
The Twin Ogres
"Two realms, two Ogres — threats from both sides."
The loop
You reach a section where Ogres are split across the normal plane and the Ascendant Plane. Only part of the fight is visible at a time.
Teleport between realms to reach and clear the threat that isn't in your current plane — coordinate who crosses and who holds.
An Unstoppable Ogre lives in the normal plane here. Stagger it before it charges or eye-blasts a clustered team.
Both realmsThe classic wipe is tunnel-visioning one plane while the other realm's enemies stack damage on you. Keep one player aware of the realm you're not standing in.
UnstoppableBring an Unstoppable frame for the Ogre. Don't dump a Super into it un-stunned — stagger first, then commit damage.
CrossTeleporting solo into a fresh realm with no backup is how people die out of revive range. Cross as a pair when you can.
4
Beat · Ascendant Plane gauntlet
The Platforming Gauntlet
"Floating platforms, big jumps, a leap of faith — and a long fall."
The loop
Navigate the Ascendant Plane's floating platforms and large jumps, pushing toward the boss arena.
There's a leap-of-faith section — a jump where the landing isn't obvious. Watch a teammate go first or commit to the path the platforms imply.
Clear any Taken that contest a platform before you jump — a Phalanx void-knock mid-air is a free death into the abyss.
The fallThis is the #1 non-boss killer in the strike. Missed jumps and knockbacks cost revive tokens fast. Slow down; the platforms reward patience over speed.
MobilityA movement-friendly setup helps — a reliable jump/dodge and a teammate who calls the leap-of-faith landing make this beat trivial instead of lethal.
KnockbackTaken Phalanxes exist to shove you off ledges. Strip or kill them before lining up a jump near a Phalanx's sightline.
5
Boss · The Suspended Platform
Sedia, the Corrupted, behind a relic shield
"She's immune until a thrown relic strips her shield — and you can be knocked off the ledge."
The loop
Sedia is immune when the phase opens. Damage does nothing until her shield is broken — don't waste a Super into it.
Awoken relics spawn on the sides of the arena. A player grabs a relic; passing it to a teammate first buffs/empowers it so the throw hits harder.
Throw the relic at Sedia to strip her immunity. An empowered relic can one-shot the shield and open the damage phase — an un-buffed throw may only chip it.
Once the shield drops, burst Sedia hard in the open window. Match your DPS element to the weekly surge and unload before she re-shields.
At roughly half health she retreats deeper / further into the Ascendant Plane onto a suspended platform for the final phase — repeat the relic-throw amid debris hazards and add waves.
Survive her scream/push attack and the rotating Taken orb hazards — being knocked off the platform is the run-ender. Keep a revive token in reserve.
Relic firstNo relic, no damage. Assign a relic-runner and a passer before the phase so the buff-by-passing chain happens every time — a fumbled relic stalls DPS and lets adds and champions stack.
The edgeSedia's scream/push and the Taken orb hazards exist to throw you off the suspended platform. Fight with your back to solid ground, never the abyss, especially in the final phase.
AddsKeep one player on Phalanx and add control during damage. A Phalanx knockback into the debris or off the ledge ends a clean phase instantly.

Bring four jobs, not four guns
A GM team is happiest when each player owns a job. Full build cards live in the classguides and the Prismatic deep dive — these are the jobs to fill and the archetypes that fill them. Names rotate with the meta; the jobs don't.
Anchor / Control
Room control + self-sustain
Hold space and keep the team topped through Taken add waves.
Warlock — Void Devour or the Prismatic Getaway loop.
Titan — Strand Banner of War for team woven mail.
A reliable add-clear Primary that respects the surge.
Champion Lock
Frame coverage
Carry the intrinsic stuns the week assigns.
Overload + Unstoppable frames as the baseline here.
Barrier is needed only when the weekly set lists it.
See the weapon guide for which archetypes carry each stun.
Boss Burst
Damage in the relic window
Burst hard the instant the shield drops — the window is short.
Hunter — Nighthawk Golden Gun for a clean single-shot nuke.
Titan — Thundercrash as a burst swap.
A heavy you can fire from cover (rocket / LFR) without facing the edge.
Emergency Support
Safe revive / reset
The insurance that saves a token over a long drop.
Hunter — Void invis (Gyrfalcon / Omnioculus) for safe rezzes.
A healing or overshield tool for the platform fight.
A debuff (Tractor / Div) to speed each Sedia damage window.
Meta note: these are the mid-2026 (Renegades / Monument-era) jobs and archetypes. The jobs hold; the exact guns rotate with the meta, so match the weekly surge when you pick elements. The class pages carry the live build cards.
04 · Modifier Adjustment
What changes when the modifiers do
The route is evergreen, but the week's modifiers decide how you play it. The most common GM swings and the one adjustment each one asks for:
Medusa
Looking at affected enemies stacks Stasis slow toward a freeze. Lethal on platforms — a frozen Guardian mid-jump falls. Break line of sight before any leap and never hard-scope across a gap you'd have to jump.
No Radar / Blackout
You lose your spawn warnings and melees hit harder. Clear corners in the temple before committing, hold platform chokes, and call Taken blink positions by voice.
Focused Fire
Heightened incoming damage. Tighten cover discipline everywhere and shorten your exposure windows — peek, fire, drop back. On Sedia's platform a single big hit can stagger you off the edge.
Harsh threat / surge
Slot the matching resist mod for the threat element and match your DPS element to the surge on Sedia. A mismatched surge can double your phase count and your relic-throws.
Read the live set: this card covers the swings you'll see most often. Match the adjustment to whichever modifiers the week's GM Alert actually runs.
05 · Common Wipes
Why teams actually lose this
Almost none of it is Sedia's health bar. The Corrupted wipes groups in four predictable ways — kill these habits and the run is yours.
1
Getting knocked into the abyss
Sedia's scream/push, the rotating Taken orb hazards, and missed platform jumps throw you off the edge — worst on the suspended final-phase platform. Fight with your back to solid ground, never the drop.
2
Drowning in add spawns
Heavy add waves and Taken Phalanx knockback overwhelm you during damage phases, especially in tight platform spaces. Assign add control so the DPS players aren't fighting the room and the boss at once.
3
Mishandling the twin-Ogre teleport
Tunnel-visioning one realm lets the other plane's threats stack damage on you. Keep someone aware of both realms and cross together — don't strand a solo teammate out of revive range.
4
Fumbling the relic mechanic
If the immunity shield isn't broken, DPS stalls and champions and adds stack up until you're overrun. Assign a relic-runner and a passer, empower the relic, and break the shield every phase — don't improvise it live.
Weekly reward: when The Corrupted is the active Grandmaster Alert, a Grade B or better clear awards the week's featured weapon at Tier 5 (first clear pre-masterworked with its origin trait). The weapon changes weekly — this route is evergreen, the reward is not. See the hub reward ladder.
