TheDevils' Lair

One of the original Cosmodrome strikes, re-taught in modern Grandmaster Vanguard Alert language. Fight the House of Devils through the Old Russia refinery, break a Devil Walker in the open, descend into the Lair, and finish Sepiks Prime — a Prime Servitor guarded by Fallen that re-shields with Servitors mid-fight. Manage champion frame coverage instead of old Artifact mods, and learn the immunity loop, not a wave timer.

What this run really is

The Devils' Lair is a short, linear Fallen strike — in a Grandmaster Alert its danger isn't the layout, it's the Devil Walker on the way down and the Sepiks Prime boss room at the end. Treat the descent as cover-to-cover work and the Sepiks fight as an immunity puzzle: strip the shield by clearing the right targets, then damage the eye, not as a wave-survival timer.

The one-sentence identity

Fight the House of Devils through the Cosmodrome refinery, break the Devil Walker in the open arena, descend into the Lair, and kill Sepiks Prime by clearing the Fallen that shield it, then burning its eye between Servitor re-shields.

Everything you bring serves three jobs: survive the descent, cover the champion types present, and clear the guards fast so the eye is exposed. Build for those, not for the trash.

What old guides get wrong

  • They tell you to slot a seasonal anti-Champion Artifact mod. Stun is frame-intrinsic now — bring the right archetypes (weapon guide).
  • They quote a fixed champion list. GM champion types and counts follow the weekly modifier set.
  • They name a specific Adept reward. The chase is the weekly Tier 5 weapon, and it changes every reset.
  • They describe the boss as "survive the waves, then shoot the Servitor." The real loop is clear the surrounding Fallen to drop the opening shield, then damage the eye — and Sepiks re-shields with Servitors near two-thirds and one-third health.
01 · Champion Coverage

Cover the frames, not the mods

Anti-Champion is built into weapon frames now — there's no Artifact mod to forget. Bring archetypes that cover the types the week assigns. Champion types follow the weekly modifier set.

Per weekly modifier set

Barrier

› Pierce / break the shield
A Fallen Barrier Servitor has appeared near the boss arena, shielding nearby snipers and Dregs. Bring a Barrier-intrinsic frame to strip its shield, then finish — don't waste a Super into an unbroken barrier.
Per weekly modifier set

Overload

› Disrupt to stop the teleport
Overload Captains teleport and regenerate, and have shown up after the Walker and again during Sepiks' second immune phase. An Overload frame interrupts them — stun first or they reposition into your team and reset the fight.
Per weekly modifier set

Unstoppable

› Stagger before it closes
If the weekly set lists Unstoppable, bring an Unstoppable frame and stagger at range; otherwise don't spend a slot on it.
The modifier readout, every time: (1) enemy pressure — which champions, shields, and faction units; (2) weekly modifiers — surge, threat, banes, player stakes; (3) the single modifier most likely to wipe a casual team; (4) one build swap that answers it. Run that readout on the launch screen before every GM Alert. Champion types follow the weekly modifier set. The hub's modifier glossary explains Medusa, Focused Fire, and the rest.
02 · The Route

Cosmodrome, top to bottom

Four beats: the refinery and Shield Mesh, the Devil Walker arena, the descent into the Lair, and Sepiks Prime's boss room. The whole strike is a straight line down — the skill is when to push and when to hold cover, then reading the immunity loop at the bottom. Here's the route at a glance; each beat below carries its own notes.

The Devils' Lair full route A top-to-bottom route through four areas following the amber path: 1 the Refinery and Shield Mesh in the Cosmodrome where Ghost hacks the Shield Mesh Generator while you survive Fallen add waves, 2 the Devil Walker tank fight in an open arena, 3 the Descent into the Lair through the colony-ship interior and tunnels, 4 the Sepiks Prime boss room where the boss begins shielded and immobile, guarded by the surrounding Fallen. 1
Beat · Refinery / Shield Mesh

The Refinery Hold

"Hack the Shield Mesh — survive the waves without spending your tokens."
The loop
  1. Drop into the Cosmodrome refinery and push to the Shield Mesh Generator; Ghost begins the hack while you hold the area.
  2. Survive the Fallen add waves — Shanks, Dregs, Vandals, and Captains roll in from the rim. Hold a piece of hard cover and let the team stack.
  3. Thin the cheap kills early — Shanks and Dregs snowball into chip damage if ignored while the hack finishes.
PaceThis beat is forgiving on Normal and lethal on GM only if you hold the open ground badly. Move as a group, cover-to-cover; a hero rush here burns a revive token you'll want at Sepiks.
ThreatMatch the weekly threat element with a resist mod before the hold — Fallen Vandal snipers and Captain fire stack up fastest while you're pinned defending the Generator.
2
Beat · Devil Walker tank fight

The Devil Walker

"A Spider Tank in the open — its splash, not its health, is what kills you."
The loop
  1. A Fallen Devil Walker (Spider Tank) deploys into the open arena. Spread out and shoot its legs / critical points to stagger and expose it.
  2. When the core is exposed, focus burst into it — then break the next leg as it recovers. Repeat until it falls.
  3. Don't bunch up. The Walker's mortar splash tracks groups; one bad cluster is a multi-body wipe in GM.
SplashThe Walker's heavy splash and tracking fire can delete an under-positioned team almost instantly in GM. Use the arena edges and hard cover, and never stand where two players share a blast.
BurstThis is a good Heavy / Super dump — a damage Super or a rocket into an exposed core ends the phase fast and limits your time in the open.
ChampionWhen the weekly set lists Overload, an Overload Captain or two appear around or after the Walker. Stun them on sight with the right frame — a teleporting Captain plus Walker splash is the classic checkpoint wipe.
3
Beat · Descent into the Lair

The Descent

"Tight ship interior and tunnels — patience down, not a sprint."
The loop
  1. Push through the colony-ship interior and the tunnels leading down into the House of Devils' Lair, clearing Fallen as you go.
  2. The space tightens into corridors — funnel adds into a kill lane rather than chasing them; Vandals love to flank in close quarters.
  3. Clear each room before advancing. A left-behind Captain or Overload in a doorway is a free wipe deeper in.
VandalsFallen Vandals cloak and snipe from the tunnel mouths. Don't over-peek a long corridor — hold the corner and let them commit before you push.
AmmoThis is the last calm stretch before the boss. Top up Special and Heavy, agree who grabs bricks, and don't dump your Heavy on trash here — you'll want it for the Servitor ring.

Boss · The Lair

Sepiks Prime, drop the shield

"Clear the Fallen to drop the shield — then burn the eye before it re-shields with Servitors."
The loop
  1. Sepiks Prime hovers in the final arena and begins shielded and immobile, guarded by the surrounding Fallen. Take the small room on the left for cover and a clean angle before you start.
  2. Clear all the surrounding Fallen to drop Sepiks' shield — not a wave timer, a target list. Until they're cleared, its eye stays covered.
  3. With the shield down, damage Sepiks' eye (its weak point) — burst it hard while the window is open.
  4. At roughly two-thirds health Sepiks becomes immune again and summons Unyielding Servitors; clear them to re-expose the eye. It re-shields once more at roughly one-third health with another set. When the weekly set lists Overload, Overload Captains join this later phase — stun them or they teleport into you.
  5. Repeat the strip-and-burn cycle until the eye is gone. Bank a revive token in reserve for that final immune phase.
CrossfireThe Barrier Servitor shielding a wall of snipers and Dregs is the room's #1 killer. Fight from the left-room cover — taking that crossfire in the open is an unsurvivable wipe in GM.
OverloadWhen the weekly set lists Overload, the second immune phase adds Overload Captains — keep an Overload frame ready and call them out. A teleporting Captain in your cover during the re-shield chunks players before they can be stunned.
Map · Sepiks' LairBoss · Sepiks Prime
Sepiks Prime boss room map A circular Lair arena. Sepiks Prime, a Prime Servitor, floats at the centre and begins the fight shielded and immobile, guarded by the surrounding Fallen. Players drop the shield by clearing those Fallen, then damage Sepiks' eye, which is its weak point. A small room on the left provides cover from a Barrier Servitor shielding a wall of snipers and Dregs. When Sepiks drops to roughly two-thirds and again roughly one-third health it becomes immune and summons Unyielding Servitors; in the Grandmaster version these later phases have historically added Overload Captains around the rim, with counts rotating by week. surrounding Fallen — clear all to drop the shield Sepiks Prime eye = weak point left room · cover Barrier Servitor snipers + Dregs crossfire GM 2nd phase · ⚠ Overload Captains (rotates)

Bring four jobs, not four guns

A GM team is happiest when each player owns a job. Full build cards live in the class guides and the Prismatic deep dive — these are the jobs to fill and the archetypes that fill them. Names rotate with the meta; the jobs don't.

Anchor / Control

Room control + self-sustain

Hold space and keep the team topped through Fallen add waves.

  • Warlock — Void Devour or the Prismatic Getaway loop.
  • Titan — Strand Banner of War for team woven mail.
  • A reliable add-clear Primary that respects the surge.

Champion Lock

Frame coverage

Carry the intrinsic stuns the week assigns.

  • Barrier + Overload frames as the baseline here.
  • Add an Unstoppable frame only if the launch screen lists it.
  • See the weapon guide for which archetypes carry each stun.

Boss Burst

Damage between re-shields

Burst the eye in the open window — and the Walker core.

  • Hunter — Nighthawk Golden Gun for a clean single-shot nuke.
  • Titan — Thundercrash as a burst swap.
  • A heavy you can fire-and-reposition (rocket / LFR).

Emergency Support

Safe revive / reset

The insurance that saves a token.

  • Hunter — Void invis (Gyrfalcon / Omnioculus) for safe rezzes.
  • A healing or overshield tool for the boss room.
  • A debuff (Tractor / Div) to speed the Sepiks eye phases.
Loadout note: these are the mid-2026 (Monument-era) jobs and archetypes — match the weekly surge when you pick your elements. For full, current builds, the class pages go deeper than any single route guide.
04 · Modifier Adjustment

What changes when the modifiers do

The route is evergreen, but the week's modifiers decide how you play it. The most common GM swings and the one adjustment each one asks for:

Medusa

Looking at affected enemies stacks Stasis slow toward a freeze. Shorten the tunnel and boss-room sightlines, peek-and-cover, and never hard-scope a Servitor lane you can't disengage from.

No Radar / Blackout

You lose your spawn warnings and melees hit harder. Clear corners before committing in the descent, hold the boss-room cover, and call Servitor and Captain positions by voice.

Focused Fire

Heightened incoming damage. Tighten cover discipline everywhere and shorten your exposure windows — peek, fire, drop back. The Walker splash and boss crossfire are twice as punishing under it.

Harsh threat / surge

Slot the matching resist mod for the threat element and match your DPS element to the surge on the Walker core and Sepiks' eye. A mismatched surge can double your phase count.

On the launch screen: this card lists the common swings — read the live champions, banes, surge, threat, and stakes before you load in.
05 · Common Wipes

Why teams actually lose this

Almost none of it is the eye. The Devils' Lair wipes groups in four predictable ways — kill these habits and the run is yours.

1

Eating the Devil Walker

The Spider Tank's heavy splash and tracking fire can wipe an under-positioned team almost instantly in GM. Spread out, use the arena edges, and never share a blast with a teammate.

2

Caught in the boss crossfire

Standing in the open against the Barrier Servitor shielding a wall of snipers and Dregs is unsurvivable. Fight from the left-room cover — take the crossfire from behind hard cover, not in the lane.

3

Overload Captains in your face

During the boss phase the Overload Captains teleport into the team at close range and chunk players before they can be stunned. Keep an Overload frame ready and call the teleport every time.

4

Playing too passive — or ignoring adds

Sitting back too long can run you out of time, and ignoring add waves during Sepiks' immune phases lets the room overwhelm you. Clear the guards with intent and keep the adds thinned between eye windows.

Weekly reward: when the Devils' Lair is the active Grandmaster Alert, a Grade B or better clear awards the week's featured weapon at Tier 5 (first clear pre-masterworked with its origin trait). The weapon changes weekly — this route is evergreen, the reward is not. See the hub reward ladder.
