A Red Legion strike layered over a Vex network, re-taught in modern Grandmaster Vanguard Alert language. Ride down into the Vex tunnels of Nessus, grind through Cabal corridors and a radiolarian-lake gate puzzle, manage champion frame coverage instead of old Artifact mods, then strip Kargen, the Technocrat out of his Vex cage by capturing Sync Plates while he floods the island with adds.

What this run really is
The Insight Terminus is a linear Cabal-over-Vex strike on Nessus — in a Grandmaster Alert its danger isn't the layout, it's the add pressure during plate captures and Kargen's Void psionic quakes in the boss room. Treat the approach as a series of cover-to-cover pushes and the boss fight as a plate-and-positioning puzzle, not a DPS race.
The one-sentence identity
Ride into the Vex tunnels, push the Cabal corridors and the radiolarian-lake gate puzzle, clear the champions the week's modifiers assign, then strip Kargen, the Technocrat out of his Vex cage by capturing Vex Sync Plates while waves of Cabal and Vex try to bury you.
Everything you bring serves three jobs: survive the approach, cover the champion types present, and hold the plates while clearing adds so the damage window opens. Build for those, not for the trash.
What old guides get wrong
They tell you to slot a seasonal anti-Champion Artifact mod. Stun is frame-intrinsic now — bring the right archetypes (weapon guide).
They quote a fixed champion list. GM champion types and counts follow the weekly modifier set.
They name a specific Adept reward. The chase is the weekly Tier 5 weapon, and it changes every reset.
They treat Kargen as a tank-and-spank. In GM, the plate captures and add waves end far more runs than his health bar — and standing in his Vex cage means zero damage.
01 · Champion Coverage
Cover the frames, not the mods
Anti-Champion is built into weapon frames now — there's no Artifact mod to forget. Bring archetypes that cover the types the week assigns. Champion types follow the weekly modifier set.
Per weekly modifier set
Barrier
› Pierce / break the shield
When the weekly set lists Barrier, it sits on Cabal Colossi and Vex Hobgoblins. Bring a Barrier-intrinsic frame to strip the shield, then finish. Don't waste a Super into an unbroken shield.
Per weekly modifier set
Overload
› Disrupt to stop the heal
If the weekly set lists Overload, an Overload frame interrupts the heal; otherwise don't burn a loadout slot on it.
Per weekly modifier set
Unstoppable
› Stagger before it charges
When the weekly set lists Unstoppable, Cabal Incendiors carry it and can spawn during the plate-activation mechanics. An Unstoppable frame staggers them at range — stun, then delete before they crowd your plate.
The modifier readout, every time: (1) enemy pressure — which champions, shields, and faction units; (2) weekly modifiers — surge, threat, banes, player stakes; (3) the single modifier most likely to wipe a casual team; (4) one build swap that answers it. Run that readout on the launch screen before every GM Alert. Champion types follow the weekly modifier set. The hub's modifier glossary explains Medusa, Focused Fire, and the rest.
02 · The Route
Nessus tunnels to the plate island
Five beats: the Vex tunnels opening, the Cabal corridors and mini-boss, the radiolarian-lake gate plates, the parkour to the boss island, and Kargen's Sync Plate fight. The strike is a straight line — the skill is when to push, when to hold cover, and who owns each plate. Here's the route at a glance; each beat below carries its own notes.

1
Beat · Vex Tunnels Opening
The Tunnels Descent
"Ride down, dismount, and clear the Vex before they crowd the chamber."
The loop
Spawn at the Tangle and ride your Sparrow down the sloping path into the Vex tunnels — don't outrun your team into the opening.
Dismount and clear the opening chamber: Goblins, Hobgoblins, and Minotaurs. Hobgoblins snipe from the back — drop them first.
Hold the chamber entrance as cover and let the team stack before pushing deeper.
PaceThis beat is forgiving on Normal and lethal on GM only if you sprint blind. Move as a group; a hero rush into a Minotaur stomp burns a revive token you'll want at Kargen.
ThreatMatch the weekly threat element with a resist mod before the first real fight — Vex line rifles and Minotaur slams add up fastest in the open.
2
Beat · Cabal Corridors
The Corridors & Mini-Boss
"Red Legion holds the halls — and a mini-boss holds the door."
The loop
Push into the Cabal-held sections. Expect Centurions, Phalanxes, and Legionaries plus a mini-boss — clear champions here with the matching frame coverage before advancing.
Use the corridor walls as cover. Peek one angle at a time; Phalanx shields and slam knock you out of cover into Legionary fire.
Work through the narrow Vex Fanatic stretch that leads toward the gate puzzle — Fanatics explode, so don't melee them in a doorway.
ChampionThis is a likely Barrier / Unstoppable spawn zone. Call the type out, strip or stagger with the right frame, then collapse on it together — never leave one alive in a corridor behind you.
SightlinesIf Medusa or No Radar is active, the long corridor sightlines get dangerous. Shorten them, hold corners, and don't hard-scope a hall you can't disengage from.
Mini-bossFocus the mini-boss down with a coordinated burst rather than chipping it — a half-dead mini-boss plus add waves is how a clean push turns into a scramble.
3
Beat · Radiolarian Lake
The Gate Plates
"Stand on the plates, feed the gate, and don't get swarmed doing it."
The loop
Cross the radiolarian lake area and find the Vex plates. Stand on them and collect Vex orbs to power and open the gates.
This is a holding fight — Major Centurions, Cabal Gladiators, and War Beasts rush you while you're pinned to a plate. Assign one player to hold and the rest to clear.
Don't all stack the plate. Spread cover so a single Gladiator charge or Centurion slam can't knock the whole team off at once.
Melee rushCabal Gladiators and War Beasts close fast and hit hard in melee. Keep them off the plate-holder — an Unstoppable frame or a slow/suspend buys the time to channel the orbs.
OrbsCollect orbs efficiently, but a wipe costs more than a slow gate. Clear the rush, then feed the plate — clean beats quick here.
4
Beat · Vex Parkour
The Parkour to the Island
"A short jump puzzle stands between you and Kargen."
The loop
Navigate the parkour across the Vex blocks to reach the central island where Kargen, the Technocrat awaits.
Take it one block at a time — a death to a missed jump here is a wasted revive token before the hardest fight.
Regroup at the island edge. Top up Special and Heavy, agree who owns the center plate, and don't trigger the boss until everyone's across.
DropsMissed jumps cost a token, not just a respawn. Use class movement deliberately and don't rush a teammate through the blocks under fire.
AmmoThis is the last calm stretch before Kargen. Reload, swap to your boss-room loadout plan, and confirm who staggers Unstoppables during plate captures.
5
Boss · The Plate Island
Kargen, the Technocrat, in his Vex cage
"You can't shoot him through the cage — capture plates to drop it."
The loop
Kargen suspends himself in a Vex cage / energy barrier and is invulnerable while it holds. To strip it, you capture Vex Sync Plates while clearing the adds he summons.
First phase: stand on the single central plate(~20 seconds) to expose him, then burst. Keep the plate held — stepping off lets the cage re-form.
After he drops to roughly half health he re-shields. Now you must capture all three plates — one central, one on each side — to expose him for the final damage phase.
Adds keep spawning from portals throughout, even after the plates are captured. Assign plate-holders and add-clear so no plate is left uncovered.
Dodge his Void psionic trails and ground slams while you damage him in the open window. Repeat the plate-and-burst cycle until he falls — bank a token for the final phase.
SlamWhen Kargen slams the ground before teleporting, anyone standing too close to a plate gets flung into a wall — usually a kill. Watch his tell and step off the plate edge before he winds up.
PlatesTrying to capture a plate with too many adds alive leaves you pinned and exposed. Thin the portal spawns first, then channel the plate — the cage isn't going anywhere.
Void trailsHis Void psionic trails/quakes are amplified by a Void threat/burn week and launch you into the air for heavy damage. Keep moving, never sit in a trail, and resist Void if the threat is up.

Plate structure: the fight runs one central plate in the first phase, then all three plates after he re-shields — this does not change by difficulty tier. The only soft number is the exact second-count of the central-plate hold (~20s), which can feel a touch longer under heavy add pressure.
03 · Loadout by Role
Bring four jobs, not four guns
A GM team is happiest when each player owns a job. Full build cards live in the classguides and the Prismatic deep dive — these are the jobs to fill and the archetypes that fill them. Names rotate with the meta; the jobs don't.
Anchor / Control
Room control + self-sustain
Hold the plate and keep the team topped through portal waves.
Warlock — Void Devour or the Prismatic Getaway loop.
Titan — Strand Banner of War for team woven mail.
A reliable add-clear Primary that respects the surge.
Champion Lock
Frame coverage
Carry the intrinsic stuns the week assigns.
Barrier + Unstoppable frames as the baseline here.
Slot Overload only if the weekly set lists it.
See the weapon guide for which archetypes carry each stun.
Boss Burst
Damage in the open window
Burst Kargen the moment the cage drops — windows are short.
Hunter — Nighthawk Golden Gun for a clean single-shot nuke.
Titan — Thundercrash as a burst swap.
A heavy you can fire-and-reposition (rocket / LFR).
Emergency Support
Safe revive / reset
The insurance that saves a token.
Hunter — Void invis (Gyrfalcon / Omnioculus) for safe rezzes.
A healing or overshield tool for the plate captures.
A debuff (Tractor / Div) to speed the Kargen damage windows.
Loadout note: these are the mid-2026 (Monument-era) jobs and archetypes — match the weekly surge when you pick your elements. For full, current builds, the class pages go deeper than any single route guide.
04 · Modifier Adjustment
What changes when the modifiers do
The route is evergreen, but the week's modifiers decide how you play it. The most common GM swings and the one adjustment each one asks for:
Medusa
Looking at affected enemies stacks Stasis slow toward a freeze. Shorten the corridor sightlines, peek-and-cover, and never hard-scope a hall you can't disengage from while pinned to a plate.
No Radar / Blackout
You lose your spawn warnings and melees hit harder — brutal during plate captures with Gladiators and War Beasts charging in. Clear corners first, call portal spawns by voice, and never channel a plate blind.
Focused Fire
Heightened incoming damage. Tighten cover discipline everywhere and shorten your exposure windows — peek, fire, drop back. Kargen's Void trails are twice as punishing under it.
Harsh threat / surge
Slot the matching resist mod for the threat element — a Void threat week amplifies Kargen's psionic quakes — and match your DPS element to the surge in the damage window. A mismatched surge can double your phase count.
05 · Common Wipes
Why teams actually lose this
Almost none of it is Kargen's health bar. The Insight Terminus wipes groups in four predictable ways — kill these habits and the run is yours.
1
Standing too close on the slam
When Kargen slams the ground before teleporting away, anyone hugging a plate gets flung into a wall — usually a kill. Watch his wind-up tell and step off the plate edge before he commits.
2
Eating the Void trails
His Void psionic trails and quakes, amplified by a Void burn week, launch you into the air for heavy damage. Keep moving, never sit in a trail, and slot Void resist if the threat is up.
3
Overrun by melee in captures
Cabal Gladiators and War Beasts charge in while you're pinned to a plate. Stagger or slow them, keep a clear player on add-duty, and don't let the plate-holder get swarmed solo.
4
Capturing into a full room
Channeling a plate with too many adds alive leaves you exposed and pinned by continuous portal spawns. Thin the spawns first, then take the plate; treat any old cheese as disposable.
Weekly reward: when the Insight Terminus is the active Grandmaster Alert, a Grade B or better clear awards the week's featured weapon at Tier 5 (first clear pre-masterworked with its origin trait). The weapon changes weekly — this route is evergreen, the reward is not. See the hub reward ladder.
