The control element. Stasis stacks Slow until things Freeze, then Shatters them for a crystalline AoE blast while Frost Armor keeps you standing. One element, all three classes — twelve Aspects (four per class, two equipped) and sixteen Whisper fragments shared across the classes. This page is the cross-class map; per-class full builds live in the class guides.
Stasis is crowd control that locks the room and shatters it — apply Slow until a target Freezes, then Shatter the frozen target for AoE damage while Frost Armor soaks the hits you take staying in the open.
Three jobs, run in a loop:
Three facts that shape every build:
Slow is a stacking debuff that drags a target's movement. You don't aim for kills directly; you aim to pile Slow until the target tips into a Freeze. Grenades, melees, aspects and Stasis weapons all add it, and Whisper of Durance makes the Slow you apply last longer.
A frozen target is locked solid — no movement, no shooting, fully exposed. Freeze is the setup; the payoff is the Shatter. The anti-Champion stuns ride the verbs around it: Slow stuns Overload and Shatter reliably stuns Unstoppable.
Breaking a frozen target or a Stasis Crystal triggers a crystalline AoE explosion and scatters Stasis Shards. Shatter turns one locked enemy into damage across the whole pack — the element's payoff verb.
Every Stasis build is a sentence built from these words. Learn the verbs and the fragment/aspect text reads itself.
A stacking sluggishness — slowed movement, degraded abilities and aim. Stacks accumulate toward a Freeze; enough Slow and the target locks. The core Stasis setup verb.
A frozen target is fully locked — can't move or shoot, totally exposed. For Champions, Stasis stuns through its verbs: Slow stuns Overload and Shatter reliably stuns Unstoppable.
Breaking a frozen target or Stasis Crystal triggers a crystalline AoE explosion. The detonation that turns one locked enemy into damage across a pack — and scatters Shards.
A stacking damage-resistance buff. Shards become Frost Armor through the Harvest aspects, and Shatterdive, Frostpulse and Whisper of Fractures add more; Whisper of Rime lengthens it and raises the stack cap.
A crystal spawned by Glacier grenades, Howl of the Storm, Touch of Winter and Headstone precision kills. Destroying one bursts for AoE damage (Whisper of Fissures makes that burst bigger) and re-arms the loop.
A shard dropped by Shatters and crystals. Pick it up for melee energy, and for Frost Armor stacks through the Harvest aspects. The fuel that closes the loop.
Same element, three identities. Each class has its own super, melee and four Aspects; you equip two Aspects. Grenades are shared by all three classes.
Winter's Wrath summons a Stasis staff. Super primary casts a barrage of shards that freeze targets; super secondary casts a shockwave that shatters every frozen target.
Penumbral Blast sends a blast of Stasis forward to freeze targets. Class ability: Healing Rift heals those inside; Empowering Rift raises weapon damage and ability energy regeneration. The set-and-control class.
Glacial Quake summons a Stasis gauntlet. A heavy slam sends out a freezing shockwave and crystals that freeze additional targets; light attacks supercharge Shiver Strike. Sprint through crystals or frozen targets to shatter them instantly.
Shiver Strike leaps and dashes into a target, knocking it back and attaching a delayed Stasis explosive. Class ability: Towering Barricade for cover, Rally Barricade for reload speed, stability and range. The slam-and-shatter bruiser.
Silence and Squall throws two kamas in sequence. Silence is a flash-freeze blast that freezes and damages; Squall is a Stasis storm that slows and damages targets inside it.
Withering Blade tosses a Stasis shuriken that damages and slows, with multiple charges. Class ability: Gambler's Dodge refunds melee energy, Marksman's Dodge collects ammo and reloads all weapons. The Slow-first class.
The Harvest aspect in each class (Grim, Tectonic, Glacial) is where picking up shards becomes Frost Armor; the other three are the class's own tools.
Stasis has sixteen Whispers, shared by Hunter, Titan and Warlock. Your two equipped Aspects open the fragment slots, and most Whispers carry a stat rider — so picking fragments is also picking stats. Every rider below is the manifest value, in Armor 3.0 stat names.
A Stasis build is never carried by the exotic alone — the loop only closes when stats, mods and fragments push the same way. The full stat math lives in Armor 3.0 and the wiring walkthrough in Buildcrafting; here's the Stasis-specific shape.
Set armor mods before tuning stats — a lot of the loop lives here:
Translate the loop into the Armor 3.0 stats (Health, Melee, Grenade, Super, Class, Weapons):
A starter Stasis build for each class — super → aspects → fragments → exotic → armor stats → weapons. Fragments are listed in priority order; slot as many as your two Aspects open. Full versions live in each class guide.
The builds above are starters, not the only answers. Each class has exotics that define their own Stasis loop — pick by what the activity needs.
Rime-coat Raiment — the Bleak Watcher exotic. Osmiomancy Gloves — a Coldsnap exotic: Coldsnap gets an additional charge that recharges faster on hits, and its seeker travels farther. Ballidorse Wrathweavers — targets frozen by Winter's Wrath take increased Shatter damage, and allies in range of the shockwave and Frostpulse gain Frost Armor and Stasis weapon damage, which refunds you Super energy.
Hoarfrost-Z — needs a Stasis Super; Barricade becomes a slowing wall of Stasis crystals. Cadmus Ridge Lancecap — needs a Stasis Super; rapid Stasis weapon damage, or damage from behind a Rally Barricade, creates a Diamond Lance; thrown lances create crystals and hit harder with more Frost Armor. Icefall Mantle — needs a Stasis Super; rapid Stasis final blows grant Frost Armor and heal you, and your class ability becomes a freezing, slowing burst.
Renewal Grasps — Duskfield grenades get a much larger radius; allies inside gain Frost Armor and targets inside deal reduced damage. Mask of Bakris — needs a Stasis or Arc Super; Dodge becomes a longer, partly cloaking shift, after which Stasis and Arc weapons gain a stacking damage bonus and final blows refund class energy. Mask of Fealty — Withering Blade hits create small crystals and refund melee energy, and shattering with it releases a spread of blades.
Every Stasis build, stripped to its skeleton, is the same control cycle. Apply Slow, Freeze, Shatter for AoE and Shards, harvest Frost Armor and melee, re-freeze with turrets or crystals, repeat. The diagram is the whole element on one page.
