An Echoes-era exotic mission set in a Vex-corrupted Nessus core, now run through the Pinnacle Ops, that rewards Choir of One — the Special-ammo Void auto rifle with dual fire modes — through a Deepsight-to-craftable pattern plus an intrinsic-and-catalyst upgrade loop.
The module puzzles aren't busywork — they're the Vex's own construction language, and you're forcing yourself into a simulation that would rather delete you. Here's the story behind the logic-gates.
In the Echoes era the Vex seize a fragment of the Witness's severed power and run it through a corrupted Nessus core, building minds that can predict — and shape — what comes next. You push through their logic-gates to the Choral Mind, a Hydra choir computing a controllable future one variable at a time.
Your reward answers it in kind. Choir of One is many voices resolving into a single lethal output — a dual-mode Void auto rifle that speaks the "many-as-one" the choir was built on, now turned back on it.
The modules are the network's own verbs. Carry an instruction the sim understands, run it against the world, and force the choir to treat you as a term it can no longer delete.
Intrinsic — Command Frame: fires extended-range, heavy-caliber rounds. The signature perk Fanatical Lance gives it two fire modes — aim down sights for a standard auto rifle, or hip-fire a slow projectile spread that detonates on impact, with rapid kills spawning radiolarian fluid pools. It runs on Special ammo from the Energy slot.
Craft it: your first clear drops a guaranteed Deepsight Resonance copy. Extract or dismantle it to unlock the craftable pattern at the Enclave on Mars. Each additional clear awards an Intrinsic Upgrade you slot when crafting.
Catalysts: there are three — Subsistence Refit (kills partially reload the mag from reserves), Onslaught Refit (kills stack rate of fire), and Destabilizing Rounds Refit (kills make nearby targets Volatile). They come from Expert-or-higher clears; unlock one at a time at the Enclave, then earn it in with weapon kills.
You need The Final Shape. Open the Director, go to Vanguard Ops → Pinnacle, pick Encore, and choose a difficulty. Encore is selectable at any time from Pinnacle Ops.
Traversal into four Vex-module encounters, ending on the heavily shielded Choral Mind Hydra. The Connection / Partition / Access modules are the through-line — you can only hold one at a time.
A heavily shielded Vex Hydra. You cannot damage it until you complete a Vex Module puzzle to strip its shield.
Kill the spawned Minotaur, take its Connection module, dunk it at the center plate to raise an obelisk, then interact to drop the shield and DPS for roughly 20 seconds before it re-shields and relocates. At ~50% health the arena walls off; reopen it with Minotaur Access modules. The final phase has no plate mechanic — just break the shield and burn it down.
The modules are the Vex network's own construction verbs made physical — Connection, Partition, Access — and dunking one runs that instruction against a half-rendered arena. The Death Wall is the sim's cleanup routine culling variables it didn't model; the module you carry marks you as exempt. The Choral Mind's shield only falls once your solution forces the simulation to accept you as a resolvable term.
Choir of One is a Void Special-ammo auto rifle, and its Destabilizing Rounds Refit turns kills into Volatile — so pair it with the artifact that converts that Volatile into Weaken and a steady Void economy. The Artifact 2.0 layer accelerates the build — it doesn't gate it.
Why: Volatile Marksman and Maligned Harvest turn Choir of One's Destabilizing-Rounds Volatile into Weaken bursts — so every Volatile detonation also softens the target, stacking damage on the same Void kills the gun already produces.
Alternative: NPA Repulsion Regulator — Unto the Breach → Protective Breach → Supernova builds a Void Breach and Weaken engine around the Void kills, giving you defensive uptime and burst on top of the Volatile loop.
Where Choir of One fits a Void special-ammo build, plus the supports to pair with it.
