Board the derelict Cabal carrier Glykon, fight through its Scorn-corrupted decks using the Egregore Link spore buff to pass the Darkness fog gates, and put down the Locus of Communion to earn Dead Man's Tale — the 120 RPM Kinetic scout with the legendary Cranial Spike and hip-fire loop, now fully craftable through Pinnacle Ops.
The spore buff and the fog gates aren't just obstacles — the Glykon is a ghost story, and you're following a dead man's trail. Here's what happened aboard.
Osiris sends you after a distress signal aboard the Glykon, a derelict Cabal carrier lost near the Reef whose crew fell to a Scorn/Egregore fungal corruption tied to the Darkness. A Guardian named Katabasis died chasing the same lead, deeper in the hulk.
From his body you recover your reward. Dead Man's Tale — the 120 RPM Kinetic scout — is a ghost-story gun in the most literal sense: prised from a dead man on a haunted ship, its steady precision inherited from a Guardian who didn't make it out.
Wear the corruption's own mark to walk through its fog, chase Katabasis's trail past the furnace, and take the tale he never got to finish.
Intrinsic — Cranial Spike: stacking precision hits ramp up damage, fire rate, range, and reload, and the gun stays remarkably accurate fired from the hip. A precision Kinetic scout that rewards a steady aim and rolls straight into a hip-fire flow once the stacks build.
Craft it: your first completion (any difficulty) drops an Exotic Deepsight (red-border) Dead Man's Tale — dismantle or extract it to unlock the craftable pattern, then shape it at the Enclave. Every later run awards an intrinsic crafting-upgrade material you slot when crafting or enhancing the weapon.
Catalyst: Dark-Forged Trigger comes from the Dead Man’s Tale catalyst quest (“Dead Man’s Epilogue”); the Director’s reward preview shows the tier. It removes the hip-fire accuracy penalty and increases rate of fire — applied as a perk at the Enclave, it leans the weapon hard into its hip-fire identity.
Open the Portal and go to the Pinnacle Ops tab and launch Presage there, then pick a difficulty.
There's no pre-quest; it launches directly. You'll want ownership of the content tied to the weapon (the Beyond Light / Season of the Chosen lineage).
A spore-gated crawl through a haunted Cabal hulk: refresh the Egregore Link buff, clear fuse puzzles and a red-lit maze, and finish on the furnace-gated Locus of Communion.
An oversized Scorn Ravager fought over three cycles. Clear the adds up top, flush the three coolant panels in any order to cool the furnace (some players save panel 2 for last to avoid its burn), then drop in.
It melee-charges aggressively, so kite it around the central pillars and keep distance — a Stasis slow or other crowd-control helps. Burst it with a strong Heavy; it stays vulnerable until about a third of its health is gone, then it summons reinforcements and reignites the furnace — sprint upstairs within ~5 seconds. Repeat the cool-DPS-retreat cycle three times to finish it.
The Egregore Link spore marks you with the corruption's own signature, letting you pass through Darkness fog thick with its influence before it wears off. The Locus of Communion is a Scorn Ravager fused into the ship's incinerator, using the furnace as its shield — flushing the coolant panels exposes it, and each reignition is the Glykon itself fighting back to keep its heart lit.
Dead Man's Tale is a precision-and-hip-fire Kinetic scout, so pair it with the artifact that buffs Scout Rifles directly and keeps a Kinetic economy fed. The Artifact 2.0 layer accelerates the loop — it doesn't gate it.
Why: its Rapid Precision Rifling buffs Scout Rifles directly, slotting neatly into Dead Man's Tale's precision-stacking and hip-fire loop — exactly the cadence Cranial Spike rewards, and even sharper once the Dark-Forged Trigger catalyst opens up the hip-fire flow.
Alternative: Encrypted Data Disk — its Kinetic-weapon economy keeps a Kinetic frame like Dead Man's Tale fed, supporting sustained uptime through the spore-gated decks and the boss cycles.
